The Azerbaijani UniBank OJSC’s total assets decreased by 4 percent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports referring to the bank’s balance sheet.

The bank's total assets decreased by 31.2 million manat ($18.3 million) up to 755.9 billion manat ($444.6 billion).

Most of the assets (68.9 percent) accounted for the loan portfolio, the volume of which increased by 2.6 percent, making up 520.5 million manat ($306.1 million).

The major part of the bank’s loan portfolio (52.4 percent) accounted for consumer loans in the amount of 272.5 million manat ($160.3 million), the share of which dropped by 6.1 percent.

As reported, some 36.5 percent were business loans in the amount of 190 million manat ($111.7 million), the annual share of which grew by 12.4 percent. Nearly 11.1 percent of the loan portfolio accounted for mortgage loans in the amount of 57.9 million manat, or $34 million (a growth of 20.8 percent).

The target reserves deducted from the portfolio to ensure possible losses amounted to 103.4 million manat ($60.8 million), decreasing by 6.4 percent in the end of March 2020 compared to the end of March 2019.

Some 16.8 percent of the total assets volume account for cash and its equivalents. Their volume decreased by 11.1 percent – from 142.9 million ($84 million) to 127.1 million manat ($74.7 million).

Investments in securities amounted to 68.1 million manat ($40 million), which is two thirds less than in the same period of 2019.

Slightly over 2.5 percent of the total assets accounted for deposits with banks and other financial institutions, amounting to 19 million manat, or $11.1 million (growth of 67.8 percent).

Loans issued to banks and financial institutions made up 7.2 million manat ($4.2 million), remaining the same as in 1Q2020.

The annual share of non-used real estate property in the structure of long-term assets amounted to 14.1 million manat, or $8.2 million (increase of 1.3 percent).

Intangible assets decreased by 2.7 percent to make up 14,100 manat ($8,200) compared to 14,500 manat ($8,530) in the same period of last year.

Other assets amounted to 36.1 million manat ($21.2 million).

Unibank commercial bank OJSC has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1992. The bank has a wide network of services in the capital and districts.
