The National Depository Center of Azerbaijan registered 367 repo transactions in the amount of over 668.9 million manat ($393.4 million) from January through May 2020, Trend reports referring to the center’s statistics.
The total number of repo transactions increased by 85.4 percent over the year, and their share in the local currency amounted to 358 units, which is 97.5 percent of the total number. Small number of transactions were performed in dollars; nine such transactions were concluded (2.5 percent) over the reporting period, which is two transactions more compared to the same period last year.
In the first five months of 2020, the total volume of registered repo transactions in local currency surpassed 664.1 million manat ($390.6 million) and in dollars - 4.8 million manat ($2.8 million), showing an increase of 2.5 times compared to the same period of 2019. The share of the volume of transactions concluded in local currency also increased many times and amounted to 99.3 percent of the total volume, due to the decrease in the volume of registered transactions in dollars by 31.4 percent.
