Legal entities and individuals in Azerbaijan exported products worth $4.8 billion to 96 countries from January through May 2020, which is 25.2 percent less compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee.

In the structure of exports by countries, 29.8 percent accounted for Italy, 10.7 percent - for Turkey, 7.8 percent - for China, 6.3 percent - for Israel, 5.3 percent - for Germany, 5.1 percent - for Spain, 4.7 percent - for India, 3.6 percent - for France, 3.3 percent - for the Czech Republic, 3.1 percent - for Georgia, three percent - for Portugal, 2.5 percent - for Russia, 1.8 percent - for Ukraine, 1.7 percent - for Austria, 1.5 percent - for the UK, 1.3 percent - for Greece, 0.8 percent - for Vietnam, 0.7 percent - for the Netherlands, and 5.8 percent - for other countries.

Meanwhile, 89.7 percent of products were exported through pipelines and power lines, 5.3 percent - by motor vehicles, 3.2 percent - by trains, 1.1 percent - by planes, and 0.7 percent - by ships.

In the reporting period, the export of fresh fruits increased by 32.7 percent compared to the same period in 2019, fresh vegetables - by 30.6 percent, tobacco – by 2 times, fruit and vegetable juices - by 14.5 percent, canned fruits and vegetables - 10 percent, margarine and other food additives - four percent, cotton fiber – by 3.2 times, polyethylene - 15.8 percent, cotton yarn - 44.8 percent, ferrous metal products – by 5.6 times, bentonite clay – by 31 percent.

Exports of sugar decreased by 18.4 percent, tea - by 12.1 percent, potatoes - by 24.3 percent, vegetable oils - by 2.4 percent, unprocessed aluminum - by 7.5 percent, natural grape wines and grape musts - by 19.1 percent, polyethylene - by 5.5 percent, and pipes from ferrous metals - by 77.9 percent.

In the first five months of 2020, export of non-oil products increased by 20.1 percent compared to the same period last year, while in real terms it grew by 14.4 percent and amounted to $582.7 million.

The major share of non-oil products fell on those exported to Russia (28.3 percent), which is followed by Turkey (25.4 percent), Georgia (10.7 percent), Switzerland (7.7 percent), Italy (3.8 percent), Greece (2.6 percent), Ukraine (2.3 percent), China (2.1 percent), Iran (two percent), and Germany (1.7 percent).
