Saudi Fund for Development interested in expanding co-op with Uzbekistan

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) is interested in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan, SFD Managing Director Khalid Al-Khudairi said, Trend reports citing the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.

Al-Khudairi made this remark during a videoconference between with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the status and prospects of strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and SFD.

"Financial resources of the fund in Uzbekistan are used for such socially significant projects as equipping educational and medical institutions, housing construction in rural areas, reconstructing roads, and improving water supply systems. To date, four projects worth $88 million have been implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of the SFD, and six projects worth $186 million are at the stage of completion," the report says.

Following the talks, Khalid Al-Khudairi expressed interest in intensifying cooperation with Uzbekistan in bilateral format and within the framework of Arab Coordination Group, as well as in increasing financing of socio-economic projects in Uzbekistan.
