Azerbaijan sees decline in volume of loans issued to gov't agencies

The volume of loans allocated to government agencies in Azerbaijan in January 2021 amounted to 800,000 manat ($470,588), Trend reports citing statistics of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this indicator has remained unchanged since the beginning of May 2020.

However, on an annualized basis, a decrease of 300,000 manat ($176,470) or 27.3 percent was recorded, the CBA noted.

The largest share of loans in Azerbaijan in the reporting month fell on households, amounting to 46.5 percent, or 6.78 billion manat ($3.98 billion), of their total volume.

"The volume of loans issued to other sectors during the reporting period amounted to 520.9 million manat ($306.4 million), which is 22.1 percent, or 147.7 million manat ($86.8 million), less compared to the same month of 2020. The share of lending to other sectors in lending to the real sector amounted to 3.6 percent, which is 0.7 percent less than in the same period last year," said the CBA report.

The total volume of lending to the real sector in January 2021 amounted to over 14.5 billion manat ($8.53 billion).
