Primary market - leader for 1Q2021 public securities transactions in Azerbaijan

The total volume of transactions regarding state securities on the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 3.06 billion manat ($1.8 billion) in the 1st quarter of 2021, and their number - 609 transactions, Trend reports on Apr.1 referring to the exchange's reporting data.

Among the carried out operations, 446 transactions worth 2.7 billion manat ($1.6 billion), 88.4 percent of the total, were made in the primary market. Of these, nearly 83.1 percent of transactions (266) were made on short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) in the total amount of 2.25 billion manat ($1.32 billion).

Some 180 transactions fell on bonds of the country’s Finance Ministry in the amount of 457.1 million manat ($269 million).

The secondary market of the state securities accounted for 163 transactions in the total amount of 354.6 million manat ($208.7 million). Their share was 11.6 percent of the total number of transactions on state securities.

REPO transactions on the state securities amounted to 929.5 million manat ($547 million). In total, from Jan. through Mar.2020, the BSE had conducted 702 REPO transactions on state securities.

The capitalization of the BSE on the last trading day of March 2021 increased by 7 percent compared to the beginning of the year and amounted to 4.16 billion manat ($2.45 billion).
