Azerbaijan publishes 1Q2021 data on lending to economy

The largest share of loans in Azerbaijan fell on households in the first quarter of 2021, amounting to 46.6 percent, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

As reported, the volume of loans in the household sector in the reporting period decreased by 1.3 percent, or 91.5 million manat ($53.8 million) compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 6.87 billion manat ($4.04 billion).

“Loans in trade and services increased by 0.4 percent, or 9.3 million manat ($5.47million) year on year - up to over 2.5 billion manat ($1.47 billion). The share of the total volume of credit investments in this sector amounted to 17.1 percent,” the CBA report said.

The volume of loans in the field of transport and communications during the reporting period amounted to 854.2 million manat ($502.4 million), which is equal 5.8 percent of the total amount of loans in the real sector.

Over the year, this figure decreased by 314.4 million manat ($184.9 million). In the field of industry and production, on an annualized basis, there was a decrease in lending by 209.2 million manat ($123.5 million) or 18.5 percent. Lending to this sector amounted to 920 million manat ($541.1 million).
