National Bank of Georgia sells significant funds through Bmatch platform in April 2021

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) sold $800,000 through the Bmatch platform in April 2021, Trend reports via the report of the NBG.

"The NBG sold $82.9 million at foreign exchange auctions during the reporting period. At the same time, the volume of foreign currency sold by the NBG through the Bmatch platform was $0.8 million. As a result, net foreign assets decreased by over $147.9 million," the document reads.

In April, funds on government deposits were down by 259.8 million lari ($79.5 million) and amounted to 1.49 billion lari ($455.9 million) by the end of the period.

The National Bank of Georgia sold $30 million at foreign exchange auction as a result of which the national currency has strengthened slightly against the US dollar and depreciated against the euro. In order to stabilize the lari exchange rate the NBG has already made seven interventions this year and sold $242.9 million in total.
