Amount of loans issued by Iranian banks increases

The number of loans issued by Iranian banks in various economic sectors increased by 94.8 percent over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Central bank Of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, the Iranian banks issued loans worth about 19 quadrillion rials (about $452 billion) in various economic sectors in the last Iranian. While in the preceding Iranian year, that figure amounted to 9.24 quadrillion rials (about $220 billion).

"So, the banks issued 1.26 trillion rials (about $30.1 billion) worth of loans in the agricultural sector within last Iranian year," the statistics said.

Moreover, the banks issued loans worth 5.8 quadrillion rials (about $138 billion) in Iran's industrial and mining sectors last Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the banks also issued loans worth 1.04 quadrillion rials (about $24.9 billion) in Iran's housing and construction sector over the reporting period.

"Furthermore, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 3.32 quadrillion rials (about $79 billion) in the trade sector last Iranian year," the statistics said.

At the same time, 7.44 quadrillion rials (about $177 billion) worth of loans were issued in the services sector and 114 trillion rials (about $ 2.72 billion) in other unmentioned areas over the last Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the loans are provided for the establishment of enterprises and facilities, as working capital, repair work, development, purchase of personal assets, purchase of apartments, and so on.
