Central Bank of Iran declares amount of loans issued in agricultural sector

Iranian banks issued loans worth 1.26 quadrillion rials (about $30.1 billion) in the agricultural sector of the country, over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021) Trend reports citing the statistics of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, about 282 trillion rials (about $6.72 billion) worth of loans was issued for the establishment of enterprises in the agricultural sector, the planting of gardens, and arable lands.

In addition, 832 trillion rials (about $19.8 billion) worth of loans was issued as working capital in the agricultural sector, the statistics said.

"The loans worth 8.27 trillion rials (about $197 million) were issued for repair operations in the agricultural sector of Iran within the last Iranian year," the statistics said.

According to the statistics, at the same time, 90.2 trillion rials (about $2.15 billion) worth of loans was issued for the development of Iran's agricultural sector.

Moreover, 14.9 trillion rials (about $356 million) worth of loans were issued for the purchase of personal assets in the agricultural sector, 3.03 trillion rials (about 72.1 million) for the purchase of housing, and 33.4 trillion rials (about $795 million) for other purposes, the statistics said.

As reported, the Iranian banks issued loans worth about 19 quadrillion rials (about $452 billion) in various economic sectors in the last Iranian year. This an increase of 94.8 percent, compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).
