In total, 778 hectares of greenhouses were put into operation in Iran during first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), an official of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran Darioush Salempour said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Salempour, the area under greenhouses put into operation in Iran for 6 months, increased by 26 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
The official added that 667 hectares (about 86 percent) of the greenhouses account for commercial greenhouses.
“About 16 hectares (2 percent) of greenhouses are small-scale greenhouses, while 95 hectares (12 percent) are used for various purposes, etc.,” he said.
Salempour noted that the greenhouses were mainly built in East Azerbaijan, Tehran, Ardabil, Isfahan, Kermanshah, Golestan, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Razavi Khorasan and Fars provinces in 6 months.
