Azerbaijan notes decrease in problem loans over 11M2021

Problem loans in banks in Azerbaijan in 11M2021 decreased by 14.89 percent compared to the same period last year - up to 786.3 million manats ($462.7 million), Trend reports citing the Central Bank.

The loan portfolio of banks and non-bank credit organizations (NBCOs) for the year increased by 1.98 billion manats ($1.2 billion), or by 13.8 percent and amounted to 16.28 billion manats ($9.6 billion) against 14.3 billion manats ($8.4 billion) a year earlier.

Also, the share of loans issued by state banks in the total volume of loans during the reporting period amounted to 19.38 percent, or 3.23 billion manats ($1.9 billion), private - 78.1 percent, or 13.04 billion manats ($7.8 billion), NBCO - 2.5 percent, or 418.6 million manats ($246.3 million).

Loans issued in the national currency in 11M2021 amounted to 12.27 billion manats ($7.2 billion) compared to 10.27 billion manats ($6 billion) a year earlier, and their share in the loan portfolio of banks amounted to 73.4 percent.

In addition, loans were issued in foreign currency in the amount of more than 4.42 billion ($2.6 billion) in manat equivalent (a decrease by 0.47 percent over the year) with a specific weight of 27.14 percent in the loan portfolio of banks.

Short-term loans in the reporting period amounted to 2.24 billion manats ($1.3 billion) in national and 932.7 million ($548.8 million) in foreign currency, while long-term loans in national and foreign currencies reached 10.02 billion ($5.9 million) and 3.49 billion manats ($2 billion), respectively.
