The total assets of Azerbaijani banks increased in 2021, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, this indicator amounted to 38.46 billion manat ($22.62 billion), up by 20 percent on annual basis.
Last year, most of the assets (43.3 percent) accounted for the loan portfolio which amounted to over 16.6 billion manat ($9.7 billion), thus rising by 17.7 percent compared to 2020.
In the structure of total assets of banks, investments in securities decreased by 16.5 percent over the year - to 4.89 billion manat ($2.89 billion). Other assets in this period amounted to more than 1.3 billion manat ($760 million).
The total capital of Azerbaijani banks grew by 5.7 percent in 2021 and amounted to nearly 4.97 billion manat ($2.92 billion).
At the same time, the equity capital of banks reached 4.6 billion manat ($2.7 billion), and capital reserves - 362.8 million manat ($213.4 million).
