BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Bank deposits of individuals in foreign currency grew in August 2022 in Azerbaijan, Trend reports via the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to CBA, this figure amounted to 4.31 billion manat ($2.5 billion), up by 12.59 percent on annual basis.

Share of deposits of individuals in foreign currency in the total amount of deposits reached 39.7 percent in August this year.

The deposits of the population (including funds of individuals engaged in self-employed activities) in national currency reached 6.5 billion manat ($3.8 billion) in the reporting month, which is 38.41 percent more than the same month last year.

Meanwhile, the share of deposits of individuals in national currency amounted to 60.3 percent of the total deposits of the population.

Bank deposits of the population in Azerbaijan (including funds of individual entrepreneurs) rose by 26.86 percent in August 2022 compared to the same month last year - up to 10.5 billion manat ($6.1 billion).

At the same time, volume of bank deposits of residents amounted to 9.98 billion manat, or $5.8 billion (increase of 20.83 percent over the year) and non-residents – 876.4 million manat or $515.2 million (up by 2.94 times), CBA added.

Total deposits in Azerbaijani banks equaled 32.8 billion manat ($19.2 billion) in August 2022, which is 32.45 percent more than in the same month last year.
