BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. During investigations conducted in 2022, the Central Office of the State Financial Control Service of the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan and its regional financial inspections discovered unreasonable and excessive expenditures from the state budget in the amount of 225.71 million manat ($132.7 million), said Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov at the board meeting of the Ministry of Finance, Trend reports via the ministry.
According to the ministry, a total of 185 facilities were examined in 2022.
"As a result of the financial control measures carried out over the past year at 185 facilities, unreasonable and excessive expenditures from the state budget in the amount of 225.71 million manat ($132.7 million) were revealed. Of these, 35.1 million manat ($20.6 million) were returned to the state budget," said the statement.
The ministry emphasizes that measures are currently being taken by law enforcement agencies against officials who committed financial violations.
