BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. Iranian Health Insurance Organization's department in the Razavi Khorasan Province in Iran has paid over 15 trillion rials (around $357 million) for health insurance in the northeastern province during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), said Mohammad Vejdani, an official of the Health Insurance Department of Razavi Khorasan Province of Iran, Trend reports.
Vejdani noted that the funds were paid to various health care providers, such as hospitals, pharmacies and other centers that have contracts with the department.
He also said that the department paid 1.94 trillion rials (about $46.2 million) to medical universities and family doctors in the province for the first five months of this year (March 21 through August 22, 2023).
Vejdani added that the population of Razavi Khorasan province is 6.4 million people, and 3,858,969 of them are insured by the department. The department manages a number of insurance funds, in particular Insurance Fund of Iranians, the Insurance Fund of Peasants and Nomads, the Labor Insurance Fund, etc.
Countrywide, 44-45 million people in Iran have health insurance.
