Laureate of Nobel Award Arrives in Baku to Attend IT Conference
Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The laureate of the Nobel Award for Physics, Ivar Giaever, arrived in Baku to attend the First International Conference on Material and Information Sciences in High Technologies which will take place in Baku from 26-29 September.
The Norwegian-American physician, Ivar Giaever, was born in Bergen on 5 April 1929. In 1948 he joined the Norway Technological Institute and graduated in 1952 with a Diploma in Engineer-mechanician.
In 1973 he was awarded the Nobel Award for Physics. Currently Ivar Giaever is the President of the Applied Biophysics Company which produces top technology in the USA.
In addition, the laureate of the Nobel Award, Vice President of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, well-known scientist, Jores Alferov, arrived in Baku to attend the conference.
