Trend S.Babayeva / The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, Ali Abbasov, said on 26 September that the meeting of the communication administrations of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Azerbaijan will take place in November to discuss the project on the construction of the Caspian Underwater Segment of the Optical Cable Main - "Trans-Asia-Europe" (TAE).

According to him, the meeting is expected to take place within the thirteenth Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference 'Communications and Information Technologies - BakuTel 2007' to take place on 21-24 November in Baku.

A memorandum was signed between the operators of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. According to the document, the expenses will be covered equally by both parties. The cost of the cable constructed via the seabed is approximately $7 - $10mln. The length of the TAE section between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is 380km. At the present time the route runs via Turkmenistan and Iran beyond the territory of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Ministry considers that realizing the project will be a real accomplishment because as a result, the route will be decreased by 2000km and it will accelerate the traffic of information transmission.
