S.Babayeva / In 2011, Azerbaijan may own two communication satellites, Ali Abbasov, Communication and IT Minister, said in the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, dedicated to the results of the social and economic development in the first quarter 2008.
According to Abbasov, feasibility study and contracts to purchase two satellites have been developed.
"Both commercial projects will open to Azerbaijan the way to the international space market," the Minister said.
Abbasov stated that the first satellite was expected to be launched in 2010 and second - 2011.
The cost of the project is $80-100mln. The first satellite will cover Europe and part of Asia - Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran.
