In 2008, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan rendered 23.2 million manat communication services. The figure is more by 43.2 percent compared to 2007, the NAR Baku Representative said.
Out of the rendered services 81.2 percent or 19 million manat accounted for private companies.
The Communication and IT Ministry rendered services of 4.4 million manat, which is more by 27.7 percent compared to 2007.
The Ministry laid 3,912 telephone lines in 2008.
The area of NAR is 5.5km sq m, which constitutes 6.4% of the Azerbaijan's territory. Nakhchivan consists of Babek, Sharur, Ordubad, Sadarak, Shahbuz, Julfa and Kangarli regions. Nakhchivan AR with its capital in Nakhchivan city has the population of 380,200 people.
