Communication services exceed 30 percent in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

Communication services in the amount of 4.03 million manat was rendered in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) in January-February that an increase of 31 percent compared to the same period of 2008, the NAR permanent representation in Baku said on March 30.  

"Approximately 81.6 percent of rendered services or 3.3 million manat fell on private companies. Their growth hit 37.2 percent," the representation said. 

Cost of services rendered by the NAR Communication and IT Ministry hit 740,000 manat that an increase of 9.2 percent compared to 2008.

The Ministry lay over 459 units of telephone lines within two months.

The autonomy is situated in the west of Azerbaijan. It borders with Armenia in the north and east, with Turkey and Iran in the west and south. Total area of NAR totals 5,500 square kilometers, population - over 360,000 people. Capital of autonomy is Nakhchivan.
