Tariffs on Internet-services will reduce to prime cost in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Communication and IT deputy minister Iltimas Mammadov said.

"Reduction of prices will be long-term. Conditions created by the Communication Ministry will stimulate price-cutting. They will reduce to average world prices," Mammadov said.

Volume of Internet traffic will increase 12 times but prices will reduce 7 times in Azerbaijan in the last years, he said.

Commenting the issue on reduction of quality for Internet-services rendered in the country, deputy minister said both providers and the Communication Ministry are interested in preserving quality of services.

The issue concerning repeated price-cutting for Internet services in the country can be considered in summer, the Communication Minister Ali Abbasov said earlier.

"It is impossible to reduce prices directly by order. We conduct certain measures but there is certain period of flexibility. For example, it was made a decision on price-cutting in December. We will consider this issue in summer," Abbasov said.

The Communication Ministry made a decision on price-cutting for internet-channels in December 2008. Prices for Internet in the country have been reduced by providers since January 2008.

Over 20 Internet-providers operate in Azerbaijan. Two of them are state - BakInternet and Aztelecomnet.
