Income of the Communications and Information Technologies Ministry of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan was 2.3 million manat in the first half of 2009, the ministry said.
The ministry invested over 733,000 manat in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the report period. Some 4 base stations were established to expand the Naxtel wireless connection. At present, Naxtel network covers 80 percent of the NAR. Moreover, 1,435 units of telephone numbers were installed in the NAR.
Channels for synchronous transport module STM1, allowing the transfer of information flow at the speed of 155 Mbps, were developed to establish alternative lines of communication over the optical cable Nakhchivan-Turkey-Georgia-Baku.
Parcels with the weigh of 14.5 tons were sent and 81.4 tons delivered via the post.
