Azerbaijan, Baku, August 31 / Trend H. Veliyev /
The Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry is ready to make a decision to reduce the Internet tariffs three times, the ministry told Trend .
According to the ministry, from September access to the Internet in Azerbaijan will be reduced three times. At present, depending on the chosen tariff plan, subscribers' costs for high-speed ADSL access varies from 30 manat - 256/256 kbit / s to 360 manat - 3072/1024 kbt/s.
Such a sharp decline in the cost of the connection is explained by reduced prices for external channels (both satellite and terrestrial), reduction in the cost of equipment and increasing competition between providers.
Talks, constantly held with Internet providers, directly affect on prices-dropping for access to the Internet.
According to the ministry, at present, tariffs for Internet services in Azerbaijan are at the level of Eastern European countries. Further reduction of subscribers' fee can radically change the situation on the broadband access market. Prices will continue to reduce. Terms created by the ministry will contribute to it. Tariffs will be reduced to the level of average world prices.
According to the last information of the ministry, as of the first half of 2009, the level of internet penetration in Azerbaijan reached 37 percent.
