Azerbaijani State Communications operator expands TAE cable main line network

The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's Aztelecom PU is expanding the national segment of the Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE) fiber-optic cable backbone.
The ministry said Aztelecom completed operations to connect the central automatic telephone exchanges in Ismayilli and Fizuli telecommunications nodes. Work on digitalizing the telephone stations has ended in 52 regions. STM-16 and STM-1 equipment have been installed in all automatic telephone exchanges.

Aztelecom's future plans include creating a second ring line of communications via a cable line from the Zardab region to Agjabadi. The first ring line operates in Shirvan Beylagan-Yevlakh.

Aztelecom's also aims to connect to a segment of TAE telecommunication nodes in Neftchala, Lerik, Yardimli, Gedebey and Dashkesan.

Neftchala presently is provided with communications via the Salyan-Neftchala, and Dashkasan-Ganja-Dashkasan microwave lines.

Intercity and international communications are conducted through Azercell Telecom base stations.
