The tariffs for roaming services rendered by Azerbaijani mobile operators are expected to decrease in the first months of 2011, Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said.
Minister said that the communication administrations of the CIS countries unanimously supported and pledged to take all necessary measures and negotiate with their mobile operators on tariff reductions for roaming services within the 43 Meeting of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC), held in Baku.
"We have also started this work. I think that we will be able to reduce the rates for this type of services in 2011, namely in the first months of next year, " minister said.
A working group was established under the RCC. It deals with the issues of tariff reduction on roaming services provided by mobile operators.
The Regional Commonwealth of Communications combines the CIS, Baltic countries and Eastern Europe. A special working group, established within the RCC, will hold direct talks.
Minister said that today, the roaming rates are high. It is unacceptable.
Decision-making within an organization can give its effect, as the administration of communication included in the RCC have leverage on mobile operators.
