Baku to discuss roaming tariffs regulation in CIS

Baku will discuss proposals for regulating roaming tariffs in the CIS, the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC) reported on Friday.

The issue will be discussed at the RCC Commission on the Economy of Communications' meeting on May 24-25.

The agenda includes improving the methodology for setting tariffs in telecommunications industry, economic relations in the ICT field, and financial services development and improvement at post offices.

Reports will also be read by the representatives of the communications administrations of Azerbaijan, Russia, Moldova, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan and the RCC Executive Committee.

The meeting will also consider mechanisms for compensating costs for providing concessional tariffs on postage in the CIS interlibrary network, issues to define the main directions of universal service development, the global financial crisis' impact on the telecommunications sector and ways to restore the field.
