Uzbekistan to increase tariffs for fixed telephony from June 1

The Uzbek Agency for Communications and Information (Uztelekom) will increase the tariffs for local telephony and telegram sending within the country from June 1.

Under the new price list posted on the organization's website, the monthly fee for use of home phone in cities in time pay increased by 7.7 percent, to 1,400 from 1,300 soums, in rural areas - by 9.1 percent, to 600 from 550 soums.

At the same time, the cost of communication over limit (180 minutes) for all categories of users increased from 4 to 5.2 soums.

Prices for organizations, financed by budget, commercial organizations, as well as for international and long-term calls were not changed.

The cost of one word at sending ordinary telegram increased from 18 soums to 22 soums for population and 42 soums to 52 soums for enterprises. Telegraph fee for all types and categories of telegram rose from 86 soums to 108 soums increasing by 25.6 percent.

Last time tariffs for fixed telephony and telegram sending within the country increased in June, 2010.

The official exchange rate is 1,699.52 soums to $ 1 on May 19.
