Austria is interested in participating in projects on information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan, the head of department for international relations and work with non-governmental institutions of the Azerbaijani Communications Ministry Ayaz Bayramov told reporters.
According to Bayramov, cooperation will be discussed during a special discussion panel on "E-government" to be held tomorrow at the Ministry.
"The Austrian side is interested in participating in projects to create Regional Innovation Zone (RIZ) in Azerbaijan, building the East-West information superhighway and other projects implemented in the country in ICT, including in participating in the project of building e-government where Austria proposes ready solutions," said Bayramov.
As for participation of Austrian companies in the RIZ project, then, according to Bayramov, it will depend on how the Austrian side will be satisfied with the conditions of participation.
The establishment of the RIZ in Azerbaijan was named a priority for IT industry development in the country. The RIZ envisages establishing technology parks for small and medium innovative businesses. Currently, a proposal of the Ministry to establish technology parks is considered by the Government.
