Today, the number of subscribers using the Altyn Asyr (TM Cell) mobile communication company has reached more than three million, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said today.
The question on the situation of the company has been raised at a government meeting in Ashgabat.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of providing Turkmen people with qualitative modern kinds of communication and the necessity of further improving the national operator's activity.
The president stressed that while resolving this problem, special attention must be paid not only to introducing advanced technologies and modern equipment, but the development of competition in this area.
"The timely preparation of specialists able to develop high technologies and to work with this equipment is also urgent," the Turkmen president said.
Established in 2004 the Altyn Asyr cellular network has joined global trade body GSM Association (GSMA) where the Tm Cell - a national network of cellular communication companies in Turkmenistan is registered.
The national cellular communication network during this period expanded covering almost the entire country and currently provides telecommunications services.
