By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

The participants in the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) construction project will meet in Baku to discuss the further work on the project, a source involved in the project told Trend Oct. 26.

According to the source, the meeting will be held within the 23rd Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition and Conference Bakutel-2017, to be held December 5-8.

A memorandum of understanding designed to outline the further implementation of the project, as well as determine the roles of participants, their expenses and legal statuses was signed by the project participants within Bakutel exhibition in 2013.

"It is too early to disclose the details of the agenda of the upcoming meeting as some items may be corrected,” the source said. “The efforts of the sides are aimed at implementing the next stages of the project. From the Azerbaijani side, the technical work is being carried out by Azerbaijan International Telecom LLC (AzInTelecom) of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies."

The main goal of the sides is to reach an agreement on signing a principled agreement for the implementation of the project. The document is rather complicated and the sides have to work out the details. The issue is to determine the business model of the project.

The TASIM construction project envisages the creation of a major transit link from Frankfurt to Hong Kong. Russia (Rostelecom), Kazakhstan (KazTransCom), Turkey (TurkTelecom) and China (China Telecom) are also involved in TASIM project. Azerbaijan is represented in the project by AzInTelecom LLC.
