Azerbaijan to consider deal on development of cellular communication systems

The agreement on cooperation in the development and use of cellular mobile communication systems dated Jan. 17, 1997 will be amended, the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) said in a message.

The issue of amending the agreement is planned to be considered at a joint meeting of the Council of RCC Communications Administrations and the Coordination Council of the CIS member states on informatization attached to the RCC, which will be held in June in Turkmenistan.

Last week, a meeting of the expert group for coordination of the draft protocol on amendments to the Agreement was held at the CIS Executive Committee in Moscow. Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by an employee of the State Administration for Radio Frequencies.

Andrei Kushnirenko, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee, presented the information on the received comments and proposals of the CIS member states on the draft Protocol.

The meeting participants considered notes and proposals received from representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Armenia.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, which will be submitted to the governments of the CIS member states for consideration.
