Azerbaijan nears switch to e-cash trading system

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4

Azerbaijan has started the transition to electronic cash payment system consisting of 4 stages on July 1, 2019, Trend reports with reference to the country’s Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the local e-kassa portal, Azerbaijan is currently at the last stage, which should be implemented before December 31, 2022.

To date, 12,707 e-cash registers of six operators - Az Smart, NBA Technologies International, CASPOS, OMNITECH, POS.AZ, DATAPAY - have been installed at local trading facilities (points), catering facilities.

The fourth stage envisions various regions of the country transitioning to the mentioned e-cash system. In this regard, until April 1, 2021, events will be held to develop retail trade and public catering in Baku, Ganja and Sumgayit.

Until October 1, 2021, it is planned to switch to the e-cash system in the following cities and districts of the country: Absheron, Mingachevir, Shirvan, Sheki, Lankaran, Yevlakh, Barda, Nakhchivan, Guba, Khachmaz, Masally, Goychay, Shamakhi, Zagatala, Shamkir, Tovuz, Salyan, Sabirabad, Naftalan (with the exception of villages and settlements).

Until December 31, 2021 (with the exception of villages and settlements), all retail and catering facilities will be transferred to the e-cash system in other district centers.

Before December 31, 2022, all trade facilities and public catering facilities in all villages and settlements of Azerbaijan will switch to the e-cash system.
