Uzbekistan developing its telecommunication infrastructure

The Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan plans to create at least 800,000 broadband internet ports and to lay 12,000 kilometers of fiber optic communication lines in 2020, Trend reports citing the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Uzbekistan.

“Since the beginning of 2020, about 340,000 broadband subscribers have gained access to telecommunication equipment thus, expanding broadband networks on the internet. Regionally distributed telecommunication devices were assembled and adjusted by specialists. To date, 281,000 port devices have been installed,” the message said.

In addition, 40 server devices and five storage kits have been installed and commissioned to expand the data center.

To date, 1,148 new base stations have been installed and put into operation throughout the country. By upgrading the base stations located in 1,483 institutions, it has become possible to provide broadband internet services.

Within the framework of telecommunication network development projects, 6,500 km of fiber-optic communication lines were laid. The work in this direction is being continued, the message said.
