Uzbekistan plans to reduce internet tariffs

Uzbekistan intends to install 4,400 new mobile base stations within two years, which will increase the coverage of mobile Internet from 78 percent to 85 percent, Trend reports citing Uzbek Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications.

In addition, to provide citizens of Uzbekistan with access to the global information network, ministry is planning to introduce at least 800,000 broadband Internet ports, as well as to lay 12,000 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines.

In addition, the country continues to work on consistent reduction of tariffs for telecommunication services. Thus, during 2019 the cost of tariffs for providers and operators for connection to external channels has decreased from 85,000 soum to 70,000 soum (from $8.2 to $6.7) for one Mbit/sec.

Some 22 million Internet users registered in Uzbekistan, including 19 million mobile Internet users and three million subscribers using access to internet through wired communication systems.
