Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan increases number of new-generation Internet cards

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar.9

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Consistent steps to develop communications and new technologies are being taken in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Trend reports citing Nakhchivan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.

Besides, measures are also continuing to provide the population with high-speed communication and Internet services.

In February of this year, 210 subscribers were connected to the ADSL Internet line (asymmetric digital subscriber line) in the autonomous republic.

“We’ve increased the number of new-generation Internet cards of the NGN type (multiservice communication networks) at automatic telephone exchanges (ATS), due to which we’ve been able to achieve an increase in the number of Internet users, the ministry said.

Consequently, the number of cards was increased to 160 in the villages of Chanlibel, Alinja, Aliabad, Garachug, and up to 256 at the central automatic telephone exchange of Nakhchivan.

“The increase in the number of these cards has led to an increase in Internet users by 900 people in the last month alone. It is planned to further equip automatic telephone exchanges with such new-generation networks,” the ministry noted.

“The tariffs for the Internet via ADSL and GPON (gigabit passive optical network) are 12 manat ($7) for 1 Mbit/s, 15 manat ($8.8) for 2 Mbit/s, 18 manat ($10.6) for 3 Mbit/s, 20 manat ($11.7) for 4 Mbit/s , 25 manat ($14.7) for 5 Mbit/s, 30 manat ($17.6) for 6 Mbit/s and 40 manat ($23.5) for a speed of 8 Mbit/s," the ministry added.
