Azerbaijan has entered the epoch of the IV industrial revolution based on artificial intelligence, robots, and IoT (Internet of Things), Rashad Bayramov, adviser to the minister of transport, communications, and high technologies told Trend.
According to Bayramov, the IV industrial revolution is also based on autonomous machines, big data, blockchain, 3D printing, and some other technologies.
He said that the country had already left behind three industrial revolutions, including the invention of the steam engine, electricity, computers, and the Internet.
"Azerbaijan is closely following technological tendencies that will determine the basis of development in the world for the next 20-30 years and is taking measures to solve new development problems," the adviser noted.
He also reminded that last year in Davos (Switzerland), Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Berge Brende signed a protocol of intent to establish a regional center of the WEF in Azerbaijan, which will help in realizing the opportunities and prerequisites of the IV industrial revolution, and that such centers operate only in few countries.
"To implement these intentions, on January 6, 2021, Azerbaijan’s president signed a decree on establishing ‘Center for Coordination and Analysis of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’ public legal entity under the Ministry of Economy,” Bayramov emphasized.
“The center coordinates Azerbaijan's cooperation with international organizations operating in the field of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and also conducts analysis and coordination of challenges, initiatives, strategies and projects in the field of the digital economy," he concluded.
