Presently, the world's leading technology companies are working on the development of the "smart" city and village concepts in Azerbaijan, Advisor to the Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Bayramov told Trend.
Bayramov added that the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport thinks that it is necessary to develop the concepts to implement the "smart city" and "smart village" projects.
“The main problem is the lack of a single standard for their creation,” the advisor said. “Therefore, our ministry, together with other state agencies, is working to coordinate the concepts that were presented earlier.”
Bayramov said that after the approval of the concepts by all state structures, it is planned to begin their implementation.
“Three main and priority elements for our country must be indicated in these concepts,” the advisor said. “The first element is the effectiveness of the implementation of the smart city and village project through the use of certain technologies. The second element is the sustainability of this solution, that is, the degree of dependence or independence of this solution from the state subsidies and incentives, as well as funding. The third element is whether this decision will contribute to the development of other innovations and technologies in Azerbaijan.”
The adviser said that presently, Azerbaijan’s Azercell mobile communication operator is working in Sumgayit city on the implementation of the project in accordance with the "smart" city concept.
“This project is being implemented in Sumgayit, because this city is one of the biggest, most developed, and close to Baku,” Bayramov stressed. “It will be possible to implement this project in Baku faster as a result of its successful implementation in Sumgayit.”
