AZERBAIJAN PREPARING FOR WORLD SUMMIT OF INFORMATION SOCIETY

В"Azerbaijan is preparing for the participation at the World Summit of Information Society to be held in Tunis from 16 to 19 November, Rasim Aliguliyev, a member of the working group on preparations for the summit, also the Director of the Institute of Information Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences, told Trend. The World Summit organized at the initiative of the UN, will bring together the heads of the countries.

“Azerbaijan will have a stand with the area of 100 sq m in the venue of an exhibition to be held under the Summit. The stand will represent the achievements of Azerbaijan in the sphere of information and communications technologies (ICT) after the Geneva summit of 2003.

Azerbaijan has achieved great successes in the sphere of ICT, including the establishment of electron government, electron signature, electron trade, different network infrastructure. If went to Geneva with definite obligations, we go to Tunis with concrete achievements,” Aliguliyev underlined.

A delegation headed by President Aliyev represented Azerbaijan in the World Summit of the Information Society, held in Geneva on 10-12 December.
