SE Azerpocht within the Ministry of Communications and IT is establishing a local area network under Financial services development project executed jointly with the World Bank (WB).
Trend reports with reference to press service of the Ministry, starting 2007 banking and financial services will be provided in mail offices of Azerbaijan. For this purpose, Azerpocht shall be licensed by NBA to connect Azerpocht to the relevant national system.
Initially, additional servers will be installed in central mail offices of Baku and Sumgayit, then in regions.
As a result of the project, 1,000 new workplaces will get opened.
The project is executed within state program for development of communications and telecommunications in Azerbaijan for 2005-2008 yrs. Total cost of this 3-year project is $17.5mln, from which $12.25mln are granted by WB and the rest by Azeri government.
