The cost of the project on the establishment of a super-computer center in Azerbaijan is estimated to approximately to $10-12m. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told Trend that equipped with super computer the center will be established under the state program on development of information-communications technologies in Azerbaijan in 2005-2008 (Electron Azerbaijan). After the implementation of the project there will be established an electron archive of newspaper and television channels, which will enable in future to use these resources.
The total budge of the projects, included in the state program on Electron Azerbaijan, is estimated to $372m. At present under the program only a joint project with the World Bank on the development of financial services, with the major component of improvement of post system in Azerbaijan, is under implementation.
As a result of implementation of measures under the program it is planned to establish an infrastructure of communications and information technologies in accordance with the advanced requirements, assimilation of new technologies and establishment of basis for transition to the information society.
