The Ministry of Communications & Information Technology of Azerbaijan is nearing completion of work on the computerization of the head office of the State Enterprise Azerpocht within the framework of the project Development of Financial Services in co-operation with the World Bank (WB), Trend reports with reference to the State Enterprise.
The project will be completed within 10 days.
In addition, it is intended to hold seminars for the employees of Azerpocht to increase their work capacity using the new system.
This event is planned to be held by the end of the year, after the visit of the Dutch Consulting ING Group specialists, the same source told.
Upon completion of the project, Azerpocht will receive the relevant status to be included into the national payment system to provide financial and banking services.
These services are expected to be provided in 2007 in Baku.
The project is realized within the State Program for Development of Communications & Information Technology in Azerbaijan in 2005-2008. The 3-year project amounts to $17.5 mln, with $12.25 mln from the World Bank and the balance from the Azerbaijani Government.
