On October 31, Microsoft Azerbaijan announced the beginning of the main stage for translating (localization) the operational systems Microsoft Windows Vista and 2007 Pack of Microsoft Office into Azeri language. The Director General of Microsoft Azerbaijan Vladimir Chaykovski said at a press-conference on October 31 that the announced stage envisages presenting the Azerbaijani variant of the terminological dictionary (glossary) of Microsoft Windows Vista and 2007 Microsoft Office to the public discussions, Trend reports.
The glossary was prepared within the contract concluded between the Microsoft Azerbaijan and its official partner in Azerbaijan - Sinam Ltd. The key stage of the localization project is to present the initially prepared glossary with 2,000 words to the public discussions to enable each interested person to participate and assist in the project, Chaykovski underlined.
Those wished may obtain access to the glossary on the website of the Company, bring own translation variant for this or other terms and make his/her proposal.
As long as the new options of translation emerge, they will be studied by the working group headed by the Moderator of the project, Head of the Department of Information Resources and Technologies of the Azerbaijani Presidential Apparat, Elmir Valizade.
In the future, the working group will define options of each of the glossary terms, which is closer to the Azeri language and peculiarities of the terminology of Microsoft Windows Vista and 2007 Microsoft Office.
After the translation is over, the localization of the glossary will be completed.
The final terminological dictionary of Microsoft Azerbaijan will be presented to Sinam to translate all interfaces of new products of the Corporation into Azeri language and create a special Language Interface Pack.
From November 1, all participants of the project may express attitude towards the project in a special form. The stage of the public discussion will last for a period of a month till December and thereafter within two weeks till December 15, the process of fixing the concluding variants of the terms will be held.
According to the Specialist of Sinam Ltd Islam Akhundov, the Azerbaijani users will be able to use the localized products in the summer of 2007.
