Tourism dev’t fund to be established in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 15

An extra-budgetary fund for the development of tourism in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan will be created under the administration of Kashkadarya region, Trend reports referring to the press service of the region’s administration.

According to the information, 200 billion soums ($19 million) from the Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development will be allocated for the creation of the fund.

The funds allocated to the new fund will be provided for by the action plan, which must be submitted to the government by the State Committee for Tourism Development, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry of Finance and the Committee for Roads within two months.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport and the State Committee for Tourism were instructed, together with Uzbekistan Airports JSC and Uzbekistan railways JSC, to take measures to launch flights from Karshi to Urgench and back within a month.

It is also planned to launch flights to Urgench and back from two other large cities of the country - Fergana and Termez. Moreover, the number of railway connections in the Andijan – Khiva – Andijan direction should also be increased within a month.

Also, a regular railway connection will be established in Termez-Karshi-Khiva, Khiva-Urgench-Nukus and Termez-Karshi-Samarkand directions by April 1, 2021.

Furthermore, according to the presidential decree, a number of other measures are planned to develop domestic and pilgrim tourism.

At the same time, the decree approved a plan for the formation of flows of domestic tourism at large objects of material cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, a program of measures to form a tourist flow and create favorable conditions for tourists in Uzbekistan, as well as a plan of measures for targeted promotion of the potential of pilgrim tourism of Uzbekistan in foreign countries.
