Cargo volume increases in Georgia

The volume of goods transported by land in Georgia increased by 700,000 tons from January through October 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, Trend reports with reference to National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the reporting period, the volume of goods shipped amounted to 33.9 million tons.

According to Geostat, from January through October 2019, the number of passengers transported by land reached 343.1 million people, having increased by 9.1 million passengers compared to the same period of 2018.

In the reporting period, the number of goods transported in seaports and terminals increased by 1.8 million tons to 14.2 million tons, compared to 12.4 million tons in the same period last year.

The number of containers handled in ports increased by 155,931 units. From January through October 2019, 526,059 containers were handled compared to 370,128 containers for the same period last year.
