Iran reveals plans on railway construction for near term

Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Mohammad Eslami said that by the end of term for the Hassan Rouhani's administration in 2021, some 580 kilometers of freeways will be added to Iran's road network, 160 kilometers of which belong to the Abyek-Garmsar project, Trend reports via ILNA.

“Another of our major projects is the continuation of the Hemmat Freeway, which connects to the Karaj rail network so that residents of the area will have less traffic problems,” he added.

Eslami added that the development of the railway lines is of the priority for the government, and before the end of its term, some 1500 kilometers of railway will be added to Iran's railway grid.

Further speaking, Eslami said that the residents of Tehran and Karaj Provinces are facing a major traffic problem (from Karaj to Kordan Bridge), and the issue is being resolved by the Alborz governorate.
