By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

APM Terminals Poti will apply to the Economic Ministry and Sustainable Development of Georgia for permission to implement a new project and expanding the port, said CEO of APM Terminals Poti Keld Mosgaard Christensen, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

“We believe that along with the existing port of Poti, the new marinas will be able to fully meet the freight turnover for the following 10–12 years,” said Christensen.

APM Terminals Poti offers customers services related to containers/cars online monitoring (CCOM) in CY, daily ships position (DSP) in the harbor and procurement online announcement (POS).

The CEO added that the first phase of the project includes the installation of the bulk cargo terminal, while an additional 300-meter container quay will be created in the second phase. According to him, this will allow the port of Poti to handle one million units of TEU containers more.

“'As for the bulk cargo, initially, we will have three types of it: scrap metals from the entire region, fertilizers and crops from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan,” added the CEO of APM Terminals Poti.

According to Christensen, in case the implementation of the Anaklia Port, the free competition will be ensured.

As reported, the APM Terminals Poti does not plan to invest in the Anaklia project
