ITF, Turkmenistan talk over transport sector issues

International Transport Forum (ITF) is interested in cooperation with Turkmenistan, said ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

He made the remark during the videoconference negotiations with representatives of Turkmenistan’s relevant government agencies.

During the negotiations, the importance of the transport sector was noted. This sector affects the stability and balance of world economic relations, and also plays an important role in solving the problems of ensuring sustainable development.

Speaking of transport, the Ashgabat Declaration and the Ashgabat Statement documents serve as basis for smooth operation of Turkmenistan's transport sector. The documents were adopted as a result of an International conference and the First Global Sustainable Transport Conference organized under the auspices of the United Nations, held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2014 and 2016.

ITF is an intergovernmental organization. It consists of 60 countries. This structure is integrated into the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

This structure organizes an annual summit of transport Ministers, which is also attended by heads of various international organizations, parliamentarians, representatives of business associations and leading global companies.
