Iran talks data on essential goods imported via its ports

The amount of essential goods imported by Iran via its ports stood at over 4.2 million tons since the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020) to date (May 19, 2020), said Mehrdad Jamal Arvanaghi, deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) for customs affairs, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to Arvanaghi, necessary steps have been taken to unload the essential products in Iranian ports as soon as possible.

Arvanaghi added that in addition, 51 ships are currently docking and unloading the cargo at ports.

"As many as 14 ships with cargo of more than 430,000 tons are unloading in the ports of Shahid Rajaee, Imam Khomeini, Noshahr, Anzali and Amirabad," he said.

The official added that also, 37 ships with cargo of more than 940,000 tons, are waiting in ports to unload the products.

According to the official, the volume of non-essential products in Iranian ports was 3.6 million tons during the mentioned period. More than 80 percent of these products are: refineries equipment, power plant equipment and capital goods.

Iran imported 2.5 million tons of products worth $1.9 billion in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 20 - April 19, 2020). In the first month, Iran's imports decreased by 17 percent in terms of value and increased by 21 percent in terms of weight compared to the same month last Iranian year. About 2.08 million tons of products worth $2.3 billion were imported in the same month last Iranian year.
