Russia's rail transport giant working on project for Uzbekistan

JSC Transmashholding (Russia) is busy building five main line freight electric locomotives (3ES5K) for Uzbekistran, Trend reports with reference to Transmashholding.

The contract for supply of locomotives was signed with the national railway operator - Uzbekistan Railways, and should be completed this year.

Electric locomotives will be built at Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant located in Russian Rostov region. Uzbekistan will receive locomotives of the most modern modification, with axial traction force regulation.

To date, the Uzbek Railway has two electric locomotives 3ES5K, purchased in 2018.

The 3ES5K locomotive has been manufactured at Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant since 2007. More than 1,000 such vehicles have been built in total. Electric locomotives of this series are also produced in two-section (2ES5K) and four-section (4ES5K) versions.

The locomotives are widely used in the Russian Railways network and are operated in Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

JSC Transmashholding (TMH) is the largest company among manufacturers of railway and urban rail transport in Russia and CIS.

Recently, National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on opening a credit line with the Russian State Development Corporation Vnesheconombank (VEB.RF) in the amount of 14.3 million euros to expand the fleet of electric locomotives of JSC Uzbekistan Railways.
